Two groundbreaking albums from the British jazz-rock band Nucleus released on double CD. Solar Plexus () and Belladonna () were made during the music changing times of the late sixties and early seventies when the sound of jazz and rock merged with innovative artists or bands like Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, King Crimson and Nucleus/5(26).

Aug 28,  · As Carr wrote all tracks, his name is top of the bill on this 3rd Nucleus LP. More experimentation, less rock, than on the previous effort, especially on side A, which is by far the better of the two, thanks to inventive instrumentation. Great flanged guitar on ''Spirit level'' and there we find subtle even soothing dissonance too/5(73).

Two separate albums by Ian Carr with Nucleus in one package. The previous two albums (Elastic Rock & We’ll Talk About It Later) were released under just Nucleus with all band members contributing compositions. Here Carr does all the writing. Solar Plexus () features the original Nucleus line-up plus a few others.

Seminal sounds from trumpeter Ian Carr and his Nucleus group of the early 70s – maybe one of the few jazz rock groups that was ever able to work with a fair bit of jazz in their sound! Unlike his contemporaries, who often started in rock first, then added some horns – Carr was already coming off an important 60s legacy, co-leading a group with tenorist Don Rendell – so the.
