At home in New Orleans, he performed for years at clubs until his death in in Baton Rouge. Singleton's sister label, Plantation, was scoring country hits during this time like Jeanne C. Riley's "Harper Valley P.T.A." [Plantation 3, 8/68, #1 C&W, #1 pop].

LP, Vinyl record album (80s issue.) 3. "Let's Make A Baby" by Funky Brown, "The Love We Had Stays On My Mind" by Freddy Henry, the hotbed of postwar material that flowed from the city of Baton Rouge! There's a really special vibe to this material – blues that's maybe a bit more gritty, maybe even swampy – different than material.

Classic work from Slim Harpo – an album that kicks off with one of his biggest hits ever, and follows with plenty of great tunes as well! Things here are pretty rootsy and stripped-down – lots of spare, slowish rhythms (but a few funkier ones too!) – and instrumentation that's dominated by guitar and harmonica alongside Slim's vocals – all in a mode that's maybe a bit.
